Lennox is the engineer’s premium HVAC brand, the one with the most distinctive technology and the highest published efficiency ratings in the residential split-system category. The company has been building its own variable-capacity compressors, proprietary heat-exchanger geometries, and the iComfort communicating control system in-house rather than reskinning generic platforms, and the result is equipment that genuinely looks and behaves differently than a Carrier or Trane sitting next to it on the slab. Lennox sells through an exclusive dealer network (you can’t buy Lennox at Home Depot) which means parts and service tend to flow through that network. We work with Lennox distributors across SoCal and install Lennox as one of our two preferred premium lines (the other is Carrier).

Lennox models we service

  • Signature Collection: the premium tier. SL28XCV (28 SEER variable-capacity AC, the highest-rated split-system on the market), XC25 (25 SEER variable-capacity AC), SL18XP1 and SL22KLV variable-capacity heat pumps, SL280V and SL297NV modulating variable-speed gas furnaces (up to 98.7% AFUE), and the iComfort S30 communicating thermostat with cloud connectivity.
  • Elite series: the mid-tier. XC21 and EL18XPV 2-stage units, EL296V 2-stage variable-speed furnaces. Compatible with iComfort and standard 24V thermostats.
  • Merit series: the entry tier. ML14XC1, ML17XC1 single-stage and 2-stage condensers, ML193 80% AFUE single-stage furnaces. Solid budget option for replacements and rentals.

Common Lennox issues we repair

  • iComfort communication faults (E200/E201 codes): usually a C-wire issue, less commonly a thermostat or board failure.
  • Low pressure trips (E227): often a slow refrigerant leak at a service valve or evaporator coil.
  • Compressor lockouts (E311) — almost always a dirty condenser coil restricting airflow under inland heat load. Coil rinse + restart fixes it; recurrence means deeper investigation.
  • Variable-speed blower motor faults (E380) on Signature and Elite air handlers: ECM motor module replacement, $600–$900 part + labor, often warranty-covered.
  • Inducer motor failure on SL280V and EL296V furnaces in years 8–12 — warranty-covered if registered.
  • Heat exchanger cracks on older 1990s–2000s Pulse and G61 furnaces: safety condemnation; replacement, not repair.

Lennox SL280V and iComfort premium features

The SL280V is the modulating variable-speed gas furnace at the top of the Lennox heating lineup — up to 98.7% AFUE, full modulating burner from 35% to 100%, and pure variable-speed blower that ramps continuously rather than cycling. Paired with the iComfort S30 thermostat, the system also runs adaptive humidity control, weather-aware staging (uses local forecast data to decide when to ramp up), and Smart Away geofencing that detects when the home is unoccupied and adjusts setpoints. The iComfort S30 also pulls indoor and outdoor sensor data, error history, and runtime stats into a homeowner-accessible dashboard. For a customer who wants the most data and the most modulation, this is the platform.

Lennox Pure Air system (IAQ)

Pure Air is Lennox’s integrated indoor air quality module: a UV-C light, photocatalytic oxidation cell, and MERV 16 filter housing that mounts directly in the air handler return. It treats the entire conditioned-air stream rather than a single room, and it’s genuinely effective for VOC reduction, biological neutralization, and post-wildfire smoke retention. We install Pure Air retrofits on existing Lennox systems for $900–$1,400 depending on cabinet compatibility. For households dealing with allergies, asthma, mold sensitivity, or post-Woolsey/Easy/Eaton fire residual concerns, it’s a worthwhile upgrade. For homes without specific IAQ concerns, a standalone MERV 16 filter retrofit is the better value at $400–$600.

Lennox warranty

Lennox standard limited warranty: 10 years on compressor, 5 years on other parts, extendable to 10 years on parts with online registration within 60 days of install. Heat exchangers on Signature and Elite furnaces carry a lifetime warranty to original owner. Labor is not covered. Warranty voids if the system is installed without proper Manual J sizing documentation, was modified by an unlicensed installer, or is used in unapproved commercial applications. We register every install at the time of completion.

Lennox authorized dealer considerations

Lennox sells through an exclusive dealer network and runs “Premier Dealer” and “Centurion Award” tiers that get priority parts allocation and factory training. We are not a Lennox-exclusive Premier Dealer because we work multiple premium lines, we believe honest multi-brand expertise serves customers better than single-brand allegiance. Our Lennox distributor relationships are solid; parts availability has not been a problem on any service or warranty call we’ve run. If you specifically want a one-brand Premier Dealer, that’s a legitimate path; if you want a contractor who can recommend Carrier or Trane when they’re a better fit, that’s us.

2026 rebate stack for Lennox heat pumps

The active 2026 stack on Lennox heat-pump installs is utility-led:

  • LADWP heat pump rebate (LADWP territory): $1,250 per ton ducted (Lennox SL18XP1, XC25, SL28XCV), $1,500–$2,500 per ton ductless. Largest active 2026 incentive in LA city limits.
  • SCE rebates (SCE territory): $300–$1,200 depending on equipment HSPF2.
  • SoCalGas furnace rebate: up to $25 per kBtuh on 97%+ AFUE units. The Lennox SLP99V is the highest-AFUE residential furnace on the market at 99% AFUE — pair it with the Lennox heat pump in a dual-fuel install and the SoCalGas top-tier rebate ($25 × ~80 kBtuh = ~$2,000) stacks on top.
  • TECH Clean California: $3,000 standard, $4,000 moderate, up to $8,000 low-income — when funded. Status as of May 2026: single-family heat pump HVAC funds fully reserved November 14, 2025; new reservations go on a waitlist. We submit reservations on every qualifying Lennox install in case funding reopens.
  • Federal IRA Section 25C: terminated December 31, 2025 under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The $2,000 heat-pump credit and $600 high-efficiency credit are no longer available for 2026 installs.

Worked 2026 example: $14,500 Lennox SL18XP1 4-ton ducted heat pump with iComfort S30 in LADWP territory. LADWP rebate at $1,250 per ton (ducted) = $5,000. Net: $9,500. If paired with a Lennox SLP99V furnace as a dual-fuel install, the SoCalGas top-tier rebate (~$2,000) stacks on top, dropping net to $7,500. Federal IRA 25C ($2,000) is no longer in this math — expired December 31, 2025. TECH ($3,000 standard) currently waitlisted. Full breakdown: TECH Clean California rebates and current LADWP and SoCalGas rebate amounts.
